Carrie Brownstein performs a folk ballad on Colbert because why not
Don’t panic, Sleater-Kinney fans, she was only joking about that Tudor folk album.
Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein has decided to head down a surprising new route after putting out her memoir ‘Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl’ this week. Appearing on Colbert, Brownstein announced that her unlikely passion actually lies outside of Sleater-Kinney and her sketch show Portlandia. She’s actually very interested in the field of traditional English folk ditties. She then performed an absolutely awful drone of a ballad called ‘The Hunter and his Pallid Bride,’ and plugged an entire album of similar music.
Tudor history enthusiasts everywhere will be disappointed to learn that no such record exists. Carrie Brownstein was having us on. Boo.
Sleater-Kinney released their first album in ten years, ‘No Cities To Love,’ at the very beginning of this year. Read the DIY interview with the band here, and watch Carrie Brownstein’s bold new musical direction below.
