Simply the guest
Snoop Dogg and De La Soul are on the new Gorillaz album
The latter say it’s sounding “amazing.” Well, duh.

With that new Gorillaz album sneaking ever-closer, details are beginning to trickle. Now, two new guest stars have been confirmed, and they’re both doozies.
In an interview with The Guardian, De La Soul rapper Pos confirmed that both his group and Snoop Dogg are on the new Gorillaz album. It’s tit for tat really, with Damon Albarn also guesting on De La Soul’s new album ‘…And The Anonymous Nobody’.
“Collaborations come when we feel we’ve got something that would be a great match for an artist,” Pos explained of their choice to nab Damon for their new LP. “With Damon, it was easy because we love working with him. We’re about to be on the new Gorillaz album.”
“Snoop was also performing on the record when we were over there,” he also revealed. “He pulled us to one side and said ‘Hey man, we never performed together. Can we get this going?’”
“We actually sat down two weeks ago with Damon, and he played us some of the new album. It sounds amazing. He played us a song he wants us to get off to on the album, so we got in the studio and put that down.”
It’s not the first time the guests have joined Gorillaz on record - De La Soul played a part in the band’s smash hit ‘Feel Good Inc.’, as well as ‘Superfast Jellyfish’, while Snoop Dogg lended his talents to ‘Welcome To The World Of The Plastic Beach’.
De La and Snoop join Vic Mensa on the list of artists confirmed to be involved with Gorillaz’s fifth studio album. It’ll be “ready fairly soon” apparently, though unlikely to see release until early 2017. Best get the kettle on, then.
