Gorillaz make stop in ‘Damascus’ en route to ‘The Mountain’

The digital outfit’s latest single is a collab with Yasiin Bey and Syrian singer Omar Souleyman.

Gorillaz stop off in 'Damascus' en route to 'The Mountain'

Judging by the string of singles released so far, Gorillaz’s forthcoming new album ‘The Mountain’ will be a wildly eclectic affair; and latest cut ‘Damascus’ (feat. Omar Souleyman and Yasiin Bey) is no different.

Taking our fave animated musicians on an adventure to the Syrian capital, the track sets a heady, atmospheric scene before kicking things up a gear, interspersing Bey’s whipsmart bars with bilingual lyrics and bouncing beats.

‘Damascus’ follows ‘The Manifesto’ (feat. Trueno and Proof), ‘The Happy Dictator’ (feat. Sparks) and ‘The God Of Lying’ (feat. IDLES) to be the fourth single lifted from ‘The Mountain’ - a characteristically collaborative affair that will also see Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s project team up with Johnny Marr, Gruff Rhys, and Jalen Ngonda, as well as honour the voices of late musical legends like Mark E. Smith, Bobby Womack, and Tony Allen.

Check out the video for ‘Damascus’ below.
