Ooo!
Solange is releasing her new album ‘A Seat at the Table’ on Friday!
And it features pretty much everyone in the music world as a guest.
Surprise! Solange isn’t hanging about; she’s dropped the clanger that her new album ‘A Seat at the Table’ is out on 30th September. Yep. As in, this Friday.
The record features Solange Knowles’ old pal Dev Hynes (aka. Blood Orange) but that’s just the beginning. Apparently hell-bent on cramming every big name possible onto the guestlist, ‘A Seat at the Table’ will also feature - deep breath - Lil Wayne, Sampha, Moses Sumney, Q-Tip, Kelly Rowland, The-Dream, BJ the Chicago Kid, Kelela, Sean Nicholas Savage, and production from Majical Cloudz.
She’s going to need a lot of seats at that table of hers.
In a statement, Solange stated that this record is “a project on identity, empowerment, independence, grief and healing.” Recently, Beyoncé’s sis sent out a mysterious booklet of lyrics and artwork to randomly selected fans who signed up to her newly revamped website. The booklet references a line from the recent essay Solange wrote about hostility in predominantly white spaces; “do you belong? I do”. She’s now put that online in digital form - have a gander here.
