A new version of Nirvana’s outtake ‘Sappy’ has emerged online. Recorded at California’s Sound City studios in 1991, it’s one of many versions of the infamous hidden track. Kurt Cobain and the band, who were never fully content with the song, and re-recorded it several times, recorded the final version two years later with Steve Albini during the ‘In Utero’ sessions.

‘Sappy’ - which also went by the name ‘Verse Chorus Verse’ at the time - was originally released as a hidden track on the AIDS benefit compilation ‘No Alternative.’ After word spread, it was requested regularly by fans at Nirvana shows. Another alternative live version of ‘Sappy’ from 1990 also appears on the ‘With the Lights Out’ boxset.

Numerous other unreleased Nirvana tracks - from sessions at Rio, Sound City, Smart Sessions, and outtakes from ‘Nevermind’ and ‘In Utero’ - have also emerged online.
