Abhi // Dijon Remix MNEK’s ‘Every Little Word’
MNEK’s show-stopping new single has been given a healthy lifetime’s supply of reverb.
It seems almost rude to rid MNEK’s ‘Every Little Word’ of its ridiculous, in-your-face, “do you fuck to this shit?” stance. But give Abhi // Dijon a chance. The Maryland production duo (of Abhi Raju and Dijon Duenas) swiftly follow on from Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard in giving a new take to the London talent’s show-stopping new single.
Stripping back the ear-popping synths and adding in a lifetime’s supply of reverb might not be the safest bit in these circumstances, but this is a remix that resides in its own comfy corner. What was initially a breakneck speed pop track now sits pretty as the final, closing song in an all-nighter playlist. Serene and strung out to the extreme, it’s proof that one fantastic song can exist in two completely opposite, equally impressive forms.
‘Every Little Word’ is out 19th June.
