Alice Costelloe announces long-awaited debut album ‘Move On With The Year’
The former Big Deal member has also shared the title track from the record.

London-based songwriter Alice Costelloe has announced plans to release her long-awaited debut album early next year. The singer - who was previously a member of Big Deal and also played live with Superfood - will follow up her debut solo EP ‘So Neurotic’, and her 2024 release ‘When It’s The Time’ - with her first full-length, ‘Move On With The Year’.
Set for release on 6th February 2026 via Moshi Moshi, her ten-track album - which the press release calls “a document of creative detangling and emotional repair” - saw her once again collaborate with Mike Lindsay (Laura Marling, LUMP, Anna B Savage) in Margate, after the pair worked together on her previous EP. Alongside the news, she’s shared a second preview of the album - following ‘If I Could Reach You’ which landed last month - in the form of its title track.
“Like many of the tracks on this record I wrote them through happy accidents while learning to play various instruments,” Alice has said, of the album’s title track. “This one I wrote practicing the G major scale on the piano and that’s basically what the bridge of the song is. So much of this record is about childhood, and growing up and it felt appropriate having something as naive as this simple scale for the bridge.
“I was feeling really bored by the guitar when I started writing this record and wanted to find new ways to write melodies. So I bought myself a flute a few months before recording, and figured it wouldn’t be too hard to teach myself and might inspire something new. With the flute, I felt like I had access to a whole new melodic world that sounded sad and pretty, and scrappy (because I was still learning). It felt right for the record that was emerging and felt way more natural to me than some slick lead guitar part.”
