Barry Can’t Swim drops first track of 2025, ‘The Person You’d Like To Be’
The electronic sensation’s latest offering has been billed as “the start of a bigger project to come”…

Edinburgh-born DJ and producer Barry Can’t Swim is back with ‘The Person You’d Like To Be’ - his first new music of the year, and, according to a press release, our first taste of what to expect from an upcoming longer project.
Featuring spoken-word vocals laid over an industrial, somewhat claustrophobic beat, this new cut follows the success of Barry’s acclaimed 2023 debut album ‘When Will We Land?’ - which was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize - and pays homage to the electronic music that shaped his tastes growing up.
It also lands ahead of the breakout star’s upcoming turn headlining one day of All Points East 2025, where he’ll be joined by the likes of fellow party-starters Confidence Man, club queen Shygirl, and more. You can find out more about APE 2025 and get tickets here, and check out ‘The Person You’d Like To Be’ below.
Barry Can’t Swim will play NOS Alive Festival, which takes place from 10th-12th July 2025 in Lisbon, Portugal. Find out more and get tickets at nosalive.com.
