Beach House share new single ‘Sparks’

Its the first preview ahead of their forthcoming fifth record ‘Depression Cherry’.

Beach House have shared the first single ahead of their forthcoming fifth album ‘Depression Cherry’. ‘Sparks’ sees the band pursuing saturated, echoing walls of sound, with reverb filling every nanometer of free space.

Their first release since 2012’s ”Bloom,’ Beach House’s new record is out on 28th August via Sub Pop in North America, and Bella Union in Europe. ‘Depression Cherry’ is self-produced by the band’s Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally, along with co-producer Chris Coady; who has previously worked with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, and Grizzly Bear. He’s also produced every Beach House album since 2010’s ‘Teen Dream’.

In a press release, Beach House say that “in general, this record shows a return to simplicity, with songs structured around a melody and a few instruments, with live drums playing a far lesser role. With the growing success of ‘Teen Dream’ and ‘Bloom,’ the larger stages and bigger rooms naturally drove us towards a louder, more aggressive place; a place farther from our natural tendencies. Here, we continue to let ourselves evolve while fully ignoring the commercial context in which we exist.”
