Belle and Sebastian preview new album with ‘Nobody’s Empire’

See a video for the “most personal song” Stuart Murdoch’s ever written.

Next January sees the release of Belle and Sebastian’s ‘Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance’. Linking up with ‘The Party Line’, the band are airing a video for new track ‘Nobody’s Empire’.

Directed by Blair Young and the band’s own Stuart Murdoch, a new video showcases the track, which has Murdoch singing about fighting death and how he “clung to the welcome darkness” before fighting through to the other side.

Stuart Murdoch calls the song “the most personal song” he’s ever written, although the video sees his words being sung by actress Tamzin Merchant.

‘Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance’ is out 20th January. See forthcoming UK dates above the player.
