black midi’s Cameron Picton launches new project My New Band Believe
Their self-titled debut album will arrive in April.

Former black midi bassist and sometime frontman Cameron Picton has officially announced that the debut album from his new venture, My New Band Believe, is due out on 10th April via Rough Trade Records.
Born from an illness-induced fever dream wherein Picton’s brain conjured random imagery and snippets of text - the most resonant of which were the four words that became its name - My New Band Believe is his first new project proper since black midi’s end in 2023.
My New Band Believe’s eponymous LP promises to channel the same experimental, expansive tendencies of Picton’s previous band, but will undoubtedly tread new ground, too. Crafted with the intention of using as little reverb and electronic effects possible, the acoustic-first record incorporates a full string section, as well as contributions from renowned London players including Kiran Leonard, Caius Williams, Steve Noble, Andrew Cheetham.
By way of introduction to My New Band Believe, the outfit have also dropped an exclusive, party-starting non-album single entitled ‘Numerology’ (which will feature on a bonus 10” and a limited edition Deluxe CD). Watch the official video here:
