Blur cancel appearance at French festival due to injury of drummer Dave Rowntree
The band are still scheduled to perform their Wembley shows this weekend.
Ahead of a huge weekend playing two shows at London’s Wembley Arena, Britpop icons Blur have today cancelled their set at France’s Festival Beauregard (due to take place this Thursday 6th July).
The news was announced in a statement shared by the festival on social media - translated, it reads: “The bad news has fallen: Blur will not be able to perform their concert at Beauregard. Dave Rowntree, the drummer, was injured this weekend and must rest for future shows”.
Doubtless those ‘future shows’ are the upcoming Wembley dates; as nothing has yet been announced via the band themselves, these are assumed to be still going ahead.
Festival Beauregard have also confirmed that Royal Blood will be filling the empty lineup slot, which features Alt-J, Sting and more across the weekend.
