Every year DIY heads to the USA, taking some of our favourite bands with us to showcase at annual musical behemoth SXSW. We’ll be revealing details of this year’s plans very soon, but before that we’re excited to announce an additional stop off on the road to Texas.

From 7th - 9th March, DIY will be landing in New York for New Colossus - a fresh new showcase festival taking over some of Lower East Side Manhattan’s best venues.

We’ll be bringing you highlights from across the whole festival, and on the 9th we’ll be teaming up with record label Big Indie (our monthly partners for Big Indie Big Nights) to present a special stage, bringing seven new bands to The Delancey for an evening of musical discovery.

Buzzy Australians Body Type will be heading up the bill, with support from wistful new Bella Union signings Penelope Isles, the mysterious Mysterious Visions (who recently released a 4* EP under a different moniker…) and joyful Brighton bunch Orchards.

Joining them from the other side of the Atlantic will be Austin’s own Jackie Venson, buzzy garage NY newcomers Gnarcissists (who’ve already supported Black Lips and Bodega in their short lifetime) and now, we’re very excited to confirm that Class of 2019 stars and DIY faves Whenyoung will also be popping up for a special guests appearance, following their Mercury Lounge headline.

They join a hypey bill across the three days of the festival (7th - 9th) that includes Scotland’s Lucia and The Ninth Wave, Montreal’s Munya and new Fat Possum signing Ellis.

Grab tickets for the DIY/ Big Indie stage here and head to the New Colossuswebsite for full details.
