There’s video footage of Bon Iver’s high school band Mount Vernon

These days, Bon Iver is best known for writing beautiful records, casually scooping BRIT nominations and swanning about with number one pal James Blake, but back in the day, a baby-faced Justin Vernon had to start somewhere.

Back in 1998, he and his high school band took park in a battle of the bands; and there’s video footage of Mount Vernon’s performance! The nine piece outfit played a half hour set. Have a look below.

Zooming forward to the present, Justin Vernon is promising music this summer, with plans to air new material at his Eaux Claires festival.
