Myles Smith wins 2025 BRITs Rising Star award
Former DIY cover stars The Last Dinner Party scooped the 2024 accolade.

Drum roll please… the BRIT Awards have unveiled that singer-songwriter Myles Smith has been named winner of the 2025 Rising Star Award.
Hailing from Luton, Smith’s songwriting chops first emerged when he started performing at open mic nights aged 12. After going viral in 2022 with his covers of The Neighbourhood and Amber Run, Myles now has two EPs and a performance on Jimmy Kimmel under his belt.
Speaking about his win, Smith has commented: “Winning the BRIT award for Rising Star is such a surreal moment. Music has always been about connecting with people, and to see it resonate on this level is incredible. I’m so grateful to my team, my family, and especially the fans who’ve supported me every step of the way. Your belief in me means everything. This is just the beginning, and I’m so excited for what’s to come - thank you for being part of this journey.”
Alongside Smith, the other two artists to be shortlisted for the accolade were Good Neighbours - who shot to international recognition with their viral, now-certified platinum debut single ‘Home’, and have since brought their euphoric indie-pop to festivals the world over - and Elmiene, who has cemented his status as one of contemporary soul and R&B’s most vital voices, and was also shortlisted for the BBC’s Sound Of 2024 poll at the start of the year.
Since its inception in 2008, the award has established a track record of recognising future superstars, including past winners Adele, Sam Fender, Florence + The Machine, Griff, and last year’s champions The Last Dinner Party. The shortlist is selected by a panel of industry professionals including music journalists, heads of radio sections, songwriters, producers, and live bookers, all of whom have their ear to the ground when it comes to emerging artists and new talent.
To be eligible for the BRITs Rising Star award 2025, artists must not, as of 31st October 2024, have had a Top 20 album in the Official Album Charts, or more than one Top 20 single in the Official Singles Chart.
The BRIT Awards 2025 will take place on Saturday 1st March at The O2 Arena, and will be broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX.
