Burial’s new ‘Young Death’ 12” was accidentally sold on Black Friday
The producer’s latest release for Hyperdub has already popped up on Discogs following the mistake.
In a year of carefully orchestrated hype campaigns, it’s fair to say Burial’s ballsed this one right up - his new single for Hyperdub was accidentally sold on Black Friday, and people aren’t happy about it.
‘Young Death’ and ‘Nightmarket’, two new songs from the elusive producer, were sent out to Toronto record store Sonic Boom Records in a box marked simply ‘artist/title’. So they put them on sale for Black Friday. According to Pitchfork and the shop’s buyer Blair Whatmore, Hyperdub contacted the shop to let them know that they were pretty pissed off with the mistake.
Predictably, the 12” has already popped up on Discogs, with the catalogue number HDB100. Burial’s last appearance was alongside Zomby this summer for ‘Sweetz’.
Earlier this year, we looked back on Burial’s self-titled debut as it celebrated its tenth birthday.
