Sleater-Slippy
Carrie Brownstein recovers from mega-tumble onstage at Pitchfork Festival
Falling over during a trademark high kick at the Paris Festival, Brownstein barely missed a single note.
During Sleater-Kinney’s headline performance at Pitchfork Festival in Paris on Saturday, the floor must have been a bit Sleater-Slippy. While performing ‘Ironclad’ - from the band’s 2000 record ‘All Hands on the Bad One,’ Carrie Brownstein launched into one of her trademark high kicks, before launching straight into the floor instead. Rather fittingly, she planted the stage straight after the lyric “you will fall the hardest.”
It’s Carrie Brownstein’s recovery, though, that’s most impressive. Barely missing a beat, she achieves the mean feat of getting up again even quicker than Madonna at The Brits, and from then on she slays it. Watch Sleater-Kinney’s performance of ‘Ironclad’ (complete with Carrie’s boss tumble and recovery at 0:30) below. Read the DIY interview with Sleater-Kinney here.
