Cass McCombs takes aim at the U.S. Supreme Court on ‘Run Sister Run’

Cass McCombs is pulling no punches on new song ‘Run Sister Run’, the latest preview from his forthcoming LP ‘Mangy Love’.

Linking up with ‘Opposite House’, this new cut sees the songwriter balancing politicised venom with straight-edge musicianship. The song’s inspired by Cecily McMillan, an Occupy Wall Street protestor who was given a three-month jail sentence after being accused of assaulting a police officer. She stated that while collecting a friend from Zuccotti Park, a policeman grabbed her breast, and she instinctively retaliated by swinging her arm. She also said that while being arrested, she suffered bruising and had a seizure.

According to a statement, Cass’ new song “jabs at the Supreme Court”, declaring it to be the “highest authority… on Cheez Whiz.”

New album ‘Mangy Love’ is out via ANTI- on 26th August.
