Chad VanGaalen gets trippy in the video for ‘Pine and Clover’

The vibrant clip has been animated by Chad himself!

Are you ready to go back down the rabbit hole that is a self-animated Chad VanGaalen video? Go on then.

After announcing that his new album ‘Light Information’ would be out on 8th September via Sub Pop, Chadders has stepped forth with another one of his brilliantly bonkers animated videos. This time it’s for new track ‘Pine and Clover’, a dusty, lo-fi number. Its languid, almost calming pace is accompanied by a hugely vibrant video that’s anything but mellow. There’s trippy visuals galore, whole swathes of colour and the passing of geological ephochs. Oh, and you get to see aliens being born from squidgy eggs. Lovely.

Chad himself described the video: “The style and economy of the animation is governed by my ability to sit in a chair and draw for as long as I possibly can without being distracted by my beautiful vegetable garden. Because of the garden and its beauty, I have been inspired to make most of the environments similar to what I see in the garden, so needless to say there is a lot of lettuce”.

In October, Chad will be bringing ‘Light Information’ to the UK for a couple of dates, where he’ll be playing at London’s Oslo and the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds. Tickets are on sale now.
