Not bit part players
Childhood share new track ‘Cameo’
It’s the latest track from their upcoming album ‘Universal High’.
Back in April, South Londoners Childhood announced that they’d be releasing their brand new album ‘Universal High’ on 21st July via Marathon Artists – and lovers of soulful psych-pop rejoiced!
At the same time, they also shared a clip for ‘Californian Light’, which ironically according to Ben Romans-Hopcraft, “has nothing to do with the sunshine state at all. It was written as an ode to my relationships that define me as a person in London”. That didn’t make it any less of a powerful, vintage banger.
The latest cut from ‘Universal Light’, ‘Cameo’, is more of a lilting, laid-back number, but still contains enough funk and classic soul elements to have a little bit of a groove to. It’s another tune proving that Ben and co are hardly bit-part players.
Listen to ‘Cameo’ below.
Childhood will play Latitude (13th-16th July), where DIY is an official media partner. Tickets are on sale now. Visit diymag.com/presents for more information.
