Cowtown get festive on their ‘Wonderful Christmas Time’ cover
‘Tis the season.
Leeds’ Cowtown have carved out a hell of a following amongst its burgeoning do-it-yourself scene - link ups with Sheffield’s Audacious Art Experiment have only increased the fervour around their grafters’ mentality. As the festive season approaches, then, they’re looking to reward their rabble - below, we’ve got the first stream of their early Christmas gift, in a cover of Paul McCartney’s yearly gran-pleaser ‘Wonderful Christmas Time’.
Woozier than the original, like said gran after a glass or ten of sherry, it’s the perfect amalgamation of the sketchy, scratchy indie-punk that Cowtown have built their name on, and the festive cheer of it being only two weeks til that first advent calendar door is opened. Released as part of Too Pure’s singles club, the cover is the flip-side to that broody Christmas number of Menace Beach’s that we premiered last week.
Cowtown’s excellent past releases can be nabbed from their Bandcamp, if this whets your appetite.
Festival special! Featuring Wolf Alice, Kasabian, Lykke Li, Marmozets, Genesis Owusu and more.
