David Lynch pulls out of new ‘Twin Peaks’ series

Showtime production is set to continue without the director.

David Lynch has officially announced his departure from Showtime’s ‘Twin Peaks’ remake.

The director was set to reignite the cult ‘90s show, alongside Mark Frost. However, on his Facebook page, Lynch has removed his involvement from the remake:

“Dear Facebook Friends, Showtime did not pull the plug on Twin Peaks. After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done. This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing. Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime. I love the world of Twin Peaks and wish things could have worked out differently.”

As Lynch states, the Showtime production is still set to go ahead, with nine episodes expected to air from 2016. The remake falls in line with ‘Twin Peaks’’ 25th anniversary - Lynch was previously confirmed to direct every episode.
