Deaf Havana have revealed that their second album ‘Fools & Worthless Liars’ almost didn’t exist.

Speaking to DIY in a recent interview, frontman and vocalist James Veck-Gilodi admitted: ‘I thought we weren’t going to be able to release an album.’

He also told us that their follow-up was originally planned to be released back at the start of 2011, but due to severe writer’s block on his behalf, the process was delayed by over six months: ‘It took me so long to write the songs. Initially, we imagined we’d release it half a year earlier than we are, but hadn’t even written the songs then. I had writer’s block for ages and I wrote maybe two songs in a year.’

The album, which will be their debut on major label BMG, also happens to be their first release since ex-vocalist Ryan Mellor left the band in early 2010: ‘It was especially hard for me because I would never have considered myself a front man, but when he left, I was kind of pushed into it. I never wrote the lyrics before in this band.’

Despite growing pressures however, Veck-Gilodi prevailed and says that, with the album finally complete, ‘it was just a massive weight off my shoulders. We’re all just really excited about it!’

‘Fools & Worthless Liars’ will hit shelves on 7th November, via BMG. You can read our full interview with James here.
