Death Cab For Cutie share new anti-Trump song ‘Million Dollar Loan’

The ode to the odious Republican candidate is taken from a new, 30-day long song-a-day compilation.

With just 30 days to go until the US election, Death Cab For Cutie have shared a new, anti-Donald Trump track.

The first new material since last year’s ‘Kintsugi’ album, ‘Million Dollar Loan’ tackles head-on the factually-fluid bellend’s claims that he started his “self-made” business with a “small loan” of a million dollars from his father. Pocket change, mate, you’re right.

In a statement, Ben Gibbard has the following less-than-savoury comments to make about Trump: “Lyrically, ‘Million Dollar Loan’ deals with a particularly tone deaf moment in Donald Trump’s ascent to the Republican nomination. While campaigning in New Hampshire last year, he attempted to cast himself as a self-made man by claiming he built his fortune with just a ‘small loan of a million dollars’ from his father. Not only has this statement been proven to be wildly untrue, he was so flippant about it. It truly disgusted me. Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unworthy of the honor and responsibility of being President of the United States of America, and in no way, shape or form represents what this country truly stands for. He is beneath us.”

Watch the video for ‘Million Dollar Loan’ below - it’s taken from ‘30 Days, 30 Songs’, a new song-a-day compilation which will release one anti-Trump song every day from now until the election. R.E.M., My Morning Jacket, Clipping. and more are set to take part, with the project helmed by Dave Eggers.
