Death Grips unveil new track, ‘On GP’

Track 9 from ‘Jenny Death’ previews an album out next week.

After confirming a release date for their final ‘Jenny Death’ LP, Death Grips have unveiled track 9 from the release - ‘On GP’.

The new song arrives alongside footage of the band sitting slumped next to a giant speaker, in an empty, beige “echo chamber” of Studio 1, Sunset Sound Records in LA.

Lyrics are brutally downbeat (“All fuck life wasn’t what it is / all fuck life was just a bridge”) and the song’s built around distinct, spiralling guitar parts, a little like if Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker had put his mind inside this elusive project.

Death Grips have been teasing their new, potentially final LP, ‘Jenny Death’, since last October. Now thes album appears to have an official release date - 17th March. Harvest Records lists the release on its official site. ‘Jenny Death’ will accompany ‘Niggas on the Moon’ in forming ‘The Powers That B’, a double-album could (and let’s face it, nobody quite knows with Death Grips) close out the group’s career.
