DIY And Merc Live Take Over The Social With The Milk & ME

Last night, we were joined by The Milk and ME for round two of our Merc Live events.

DIY And Merc Live Take Over The Social With The Milk & ME

It might be a little grey outside on this Tuesday evening, but by the time reach the venue, we’re pretty sure that that won’t be the case when we get inside. It’s packed when we get down into The Social, and we’re not just saying that, promise.

Wading through the bodies of tonight’s crowd, we’re greeted with the mammoth sounds of this evening’s opening act, ME. Hailing from Australia, and coming complete with a good dose of grandeur, it’s hard not to blown away by the huge sound they create in such an intimate setting. Even a little reminiscent of early Muse and Radiohead, there’s something impressive about this bunch (and the elegant waistcoats they’ve donned for us especially this eve), and we’ve got no doubt - with their hectic touring schedule fast filling up - that you’ll get a taster sooner than you think.

But tonight, it’s all about our headliners, The Milk. Already on the cusp of some extraordinarily exciting things (just you watch this space), the band transform the basement room of The Social into a full on dance party. Their eclectic mix of genres - think everything from rock to pop to reggae to UB40 - is enough to have the whole room moving just a song or two into their set. Promising not to slow things down between songs, the band move with ease through their quick paced set.

Finishing up by demanding the entire room sit down on the floor, before a final chorus burst into life - and the crowd jumped up, in case you didn’t get that part - it’s with utter triumph that The Milk finish things up, and we’re left wondering, what on earth could happen at our next show? Only time will tell.
