DIY And Merc Live Take Over The Social With To Kill A King

Last night, we were joined by To Kill A King and Life In Film for round three of our Merc Live events.

We’re amidst the throes of summer right now, and whilst you might not be able to totally tell, we’re not letting the weather dampen our spirits. Fresh from an array of festival visits this past weekend, we decided to keep the good times a-comin’ and headed down to the trusty Social for our third show with Merc Clothing.

This evening, we’re greeted with openers Life In Film. Having already admitted that they have previously enjoyed a beer or two at our venue, they seem like the perfect choice for an evening such as tonight. Fresh from an appearance at Hard Rock Calling this past weekend, they’re practiced and ready to share their brand of indie rock with our crowd. Shimmering with influences of Editors, New Order and, with even a dash of The Smiths, they’re definitely a band to keep an eye on.

Then, before you know it, it’s time for our headliners to take to the stage. Doing so in utter style, the opening of To Kill A King’s set is wonderful, with the whole band perched at the front of the stage for what stands as an almost-a cappella track that is truly captivating. Standing atop one of the stage monitors, frontman Ralph Pelleymounter proudly brandishes his acoustic guitar, leading the remaining members of his band through the quiet opener. It’s after that though that the real fun begins, as they kick into a full band set that would make The National proud.

And thus, our third show draws to a close before we even have time to realise that our next show will be the last in this series. So quick! Grab your tickets to see Sissy & The Blisters now.
