Doechii samples Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ on immersive archive cut ‘Anxiety’
She originally recorded the track five years ago, and has now delivered a new version due to huge fan demand.

Rapper of the moment Doechii has followed up her recent success at the GRAMMYs by dropping new(ish) single ‘Anxiety’ - a re-imagined version of a track she first laid down back in 2020.
Originally recorded five years ago during her Coven sessions on YouTube, the slinking, introspective number samples Gotye’s huge 2011 hit ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ to deliver a familiar yet fresh (and all too relatable) mediation on the challenges of mental ill-health.
After fans discovered the archive track and began clamouring for a studio recording, the ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’ artist promptly headed into the booth to deliver a new version that’s true to her past but also bang up to date. The devil works hard, but Doechii works harder!
You can check out both versions of ‘Anxiety’ and revisit our Class of 2023 interview with Doechii below.
