Dutch Uncles get contemplative on new track ‘Streetlight’

It’s the latest single from their upcoming album ‘Big Balloon’.

Manchester art-poppers Dutch Uncles are gearing up to release their new album ‘Big Balloon’ on 17th February (which is set to cover everything from therapy and paranoia to fried chicken) and now they’ve given another taste of what to expect.

‘Streetlight’ is less a bit less frenetic than their last single ‘Oh Yeah’. Instead, it turns a techno-inspired reverberating synth line and uses it as a foundation for a contemplative meditation on being alone. Nevertheless, it’s still got a stomping beat and more than a few complex guitar licks in there for good measure.

“‘Streetlight’ is about becoming content with your own loneliness,” singer Duncan Wallis explains. “It’s about being sceptical, but aware and open to new chances of connecting again. It’s about realising your own needs, possibly for the first time.”
