Empress Of shares ‘Standard’ from debut LP
First work ‘Me’ is out this September.
Lorely Rodriguez aka Empress Of is streaming ‘Standard’, a shape-shifting cut from her forthcoming debut album.
‘Standard’ links up with ‘Kitty Kat’, ‘Water Water’ and ‘How Do You Do It’ in previewing the LP. Rodriguez also turned her attention to a Katy Perry cover this past week.
On this latest cut, Empress Of’s spur-of-the-moment mentality makes new shapes. Thick, earth-shaking pads dip in and out of the spotlight, while Rodriguez’s production merges multi-layered vocals with space-age drums. “Am I an addict or am I a reject / You always keep me coming back for more,” she declares, giving the impression of someone consumed in their own work.
