English Teacher unveil details of ‘This Could Be A Remix Album’
The new version of their Mercury Prize winning debut will feature contributions from Fontaines DC, Baxter Dury, Matt Maltese and more.

A year on from their Mercury Prize win - for 2024’s ‘This Could Be Texas’ - English Teacher have announced plans to release ‘This Could Be A Remix Album’, an LP featuring new versions of the original record’s 13 tracks, reimagined by an all-star cast of other artists.
Among those to have got involved are Fontaines DC - whose rework of ‘Best Tears Of Your Life’ is the inaugural release under the band’s FDC DJs offshoot - and Matt Maltese, who promises to transform the pacy restlessness of ‘Nearly Daffodils’. Elsewhere, English Teacher’s own Lewis Whiting and Blossom Calderone have put their spin on ‘Broken Biscuits’ and ‘Albert Road’ respectively, and Baxter Dury has taken on the album’s title track.
Of the release, English Teacher have simply said: “So grateful that some of our favourite contemporary artists and friends were up for doing this with us x”.
