Foals’ ‘Give It All’ gets a Clint Mansell remix
Soft and cinematic, the ‘What Went Down’ cut gets spun out into an eight minute odyssey.
Foals’ phenomenal latest album ‘What Went Down’ might be their most widescreen to date, but Clint Mansell’s take on their latest single ‘Give It All’ takes that mantra and runs with it.
It’s little surprise really; despite initially cutting his teeth as frontman of abrasive indie-poppers Pop Will Eat Itself, Mansell now fills his days with the scoring of numerous dark cinematic works, from Requiem Of A Dream to Black Swan. His take on ‘Give It All’ reflects that - twinkling and shimmery, it’s a pared-back and beautiful take on the ballad that relies on a lightness of touch. Listen below.
In DIY’s latest issue, we talk to Foals about the other side of their duality - their ferocious and unpredictable live show. You can pick up a copy of that here. A couple of months ago, we had Foals on the cover of DIY too, talking all things ‘What Went Down’ - catch up with that cover feature here.
