Foo Fighters release free tickets for London House of Vans show
The Foos’ secret club gig tour continues in London tomorrow night (11th September)
Foo Fighters have repeated yesterday’s trick, by announcing and releasing tickets for a tiny club gig the day before it’s set to take place.
Dave Grohl and co. will play London’s House of Vans with tickets being given away for free via a lottery system after an initial presale batch swiftly sold out.
House of Vans is telling customers that tickets are “currently unavailable, however the event is NOT sold out.”
Yesterday a ticket link did the rounds on Twitter, listing The Holy Shits playing the pop up venue for free. That’s the same name the Foos are playing under for tonight’s Brighton Concorde 2 show, 10th September.
A message, posted online by fans who received it, read:
“Hope you don’t mind, I got your email address because you pre-ordered Sonic Highways direct from the band. As a THANKS for that, we wanted to offer you first dibs on tickets for an upcoming secret show in London.”
“This is a FREE show.”
“We opened up a select number of tickets just for you guys to claim before they are made available to the public. If the tickets on this link run out by the time you click - don’t worry — there will be more available to the public later this week.”
The Foos are in the country to play the Invictus Games closing ceremony on Sunday (14th September). Other bands on the bill for the event include Kaiser Chiefs, Ellie Goulding, Ryan Adams, The Vamps, Rizzle Kicks, Diversity, James Blunt and the Military Wives Choirs.
Foo Fighters are currently preparing for their new album ‘Sonic Highways’, set for release on November 10th via Rosewell Records.
‘Sonic Highways’ was recorded in eight different studios across North America - Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington DC, and New York - with each city providing a guest musician (eg. Eagles’ Joe Walsh for Los Angeles), and every song being devoted to the city of choice.
There’s also going to be nine different album covers available: one representing each of the eight cities that inspired the record, along with one final piece of artwork, suitably dubbed their ‘forever’ cover.
Meanwhile, the band are planning a special celebration for their 20th anniversary as a band, according to bassist Nate Mendel in an interview with NME. “It’s something that’ll be fucking cool - plus all of the usual things like festivals.”
