Forest Swords is back, soundtracking dance performances
The producer is the creative director for a new solo dance piece called ‘Shrine’.

In the years following his beaut of a debut album ‘Engravings’, Forest Swords has kept a low-profile. Next to no new music has emerged since 2013, but now the Tri Angle-signed producer is back, scoring dance performances.
‘Shrine’ - a solo dance piece - first debuted in Liverpool back in January. Forest Swords was the project’s creative director, and scored dancer Owen Ridley-Demonick’s performance. Choreography comes from Carmel Koster. Now, it’s streaming on Boiler Room.
“For me, the past six months has involved watching how bodies can fail and fix,” said Forest Swords, speaking about his interest in the dance project. “I became acutely aware of the power of forcing ourselves to look at its vulnerabilities and how we connect with them.”
“In an age when human bodies are still regularly devalued, it feels cathartic to embrace the workings and design of them,” he added, “even if it makes us uncomfortable and sometimes shameful. Being able to explore that has been enlightening.”
The score comes out on snazzy limited edition via Dense Truth. It will be performed for a second time in The Netherlands on Friday 13th May, at Korzo, in The Hague.
Watch ‘Shrine’ below, currently streaming via Boiler Room.
