Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit, Owl John and Mastersystem has died, aged 36.

The news was confirmed by the BBC earlier today (Friday 11th May), after the Scottish singer songwriter was reported missing earlier this week.

According to reports, police discovered his body yesterday evening at Port Edgar, between the Forth Road Bridge and Queensferry Crossing, after last being seen leaving the Dakota Hotel in South Queensferry, Edinburgh at 1am on Wednesday morning (9th May).

According to the BBC, a statement released by Scott’s family said they were “utterly devastated with the tragic loss of our beloved Scott”.

“Scott, like many artists, wore his heart on his sleeve and that was evident in the lyrics of his music and the content of many of his social media posts.

“He was passionate, articulate and charismatic, as well as being one of the funniest and kindest people we knew. Friends and family would all agree that he had a brilliant sense of humour and was a great person to be around.”

The band have now also shared a statement on their Twitter account - read it below.

Our thoughts go out to Scott’s friends and family at this time.
