George FitzGerald remixes Jon Hopkins’ ‘Open Eye Signal’
Standout from 2013’s ‘Immunity’ is given a rework
George FitzGerald has taken on Jon Hopkins track ‘Open Eye Signal’ and produced a pulsating remix.
The near-ten-minute original that appeared on 2013’s ‘Immunity’ record is almost halved in length by the Berlin-based producer but still keeps the punch that made the original one of the highlights of Hopkins’ Mercury Prize-nominated latest album.
In a post on his Facebook page revealing the remix, FitzGerald said he hopes he’s gone “some way to doing the fantastic original proud”.
Both FitzGerald and Hopkins have recently undertaken BBC Radio 1 residencies, and all of FitzGerald’s shows are available to listen to in full on his Soundcloud page, along with the ‘Open Eye Signal’ remix.
Jon Hopkins is set to play the second BBC 6 Music Festival in Newcastle this coming weekend (20th-22nd Feb), and has also been announced for a slew of summer festivals including a headline set at the Bloc weekender at Butlins in Minehead in March.
