Gerard Way announces debut solo album ‘Hesitant Alien’

The former My Chemical Romance frontman will release his first solo record this September.

After first unveiling his debut solo track ‘Action Cat’ well over a month ago, Gerard Way has now announced the full details of his forthcoming first album.

Titled ‘Hesitant Alien’ - the name which Way revealed to fans earlier this month on his Twitter account - his debut solo full-length is set to be eleven tracks in length, and will be released on 29th September through Warner Bros. Records.

Recorded with producer Doug McKean at The Sonic Ranch in Texas, the album is set to reflect more of Way’s own direct influences than his previous band’s works. “I wanted to make the small things sound big,” he has said, in a press release. “My intention was to make 100 percent uncompromised art, using the currently least radio-friendly instrument, the guitar. I knew there would be lots of fuzz pedals. I knew I would play Fender instruments. I knew I would look at who my guitar heroes were in art school, Mary Timony and Carrie Brownstein, and I drew a lot of influence from shoe-gaze and Britpop. I want the record to sonically galvanize people.”

Gerard has also confirmed that he performs vocals, guitar and keyboards on the album whilst Ian Fowles of The Aquabats and ex-My Chemical Romance live collaborators Matt Gorney and Jarrod Alexander have also contributed to its creation.
