Getdown Services share reflective new single ‘Chrysalis’
The Bristol band’s new EP - entitled ‘Primordial Slot Machine’ - is due for release on 6th June.

Getdown Services have released a brand new single titled ‘Chrysalis’, the latest to be lifted from their forthcoming EP ‘Primordial Slot Machine’ (due out on 6th June via Breakfast Records).
The new EP will see childhood best friends - Josh Law and Ben Sadler - share six new tracks which cover their witty take on modern life in Britain. What’s more, ‘Primordial Slot Machine’ will also be released on vinyl, alongside 2024’s ‘Your Medal’s In The Post’ EP.
Picking up where their last project left off, ‘Chrysalis’ follows ‘Eat Quiche, Sleep, Repeat’ to be our second preview of ‘Primordial Slot Machine’, and is, according to Josh, “about a specific feeling I get when I realise my circumstances might have improved but my mood hasn’t really caught up.”
Continuing, he explains: “It’s about realising the ways in which we can be hard wired to seek out stress and misery without even realising it. You need to remind yourself to enjoy your achievements because the chances are your natural reaction will be to downplay or see the worst in them. It’s also about the confusion of finding yourself being self destructive when things do start to go well in your life.
“As well as this, it’s got a reference to a scene from Don’t Tell The Bride we both really like. A bloke books a Las Vegas wedding and spends all the budget on the stag do so the bride to be’s family can’t afford to come and she’s absolutely fuming at him in the airport whilst he’s nagging her for a hug. Very funny.”
