Ooo
Gorillaz’s new album might have a release date
The band’s guitarist Noodle pointed to the date on a new OKCupid profile, of all places.
It looks like that imminent Gorillaz album could well have a release date. The cartoon rabble dropped the clue on, of all places, OkCupid. Reddit users have noticed that the band’s guitarist Noodle has set up a profile on the online dating website, which is linked to her Instagram account.
The description links to Gorillaz’s website, and reads “Ready? 12:11”. It’s signed off with the initials D.A - which probably corresponds to Damon Albarn.
Later on, the profile’s user picture was changed to never-before-seen photo of Albarn, which does point towards the profile being real, rather than a very clever prank. It was later removed.
A 11th December release date (though it could also point to a 12th November release, depending) does stack up well with the band’s recent flurry of online activity. Gorillaz have been sharing origin stories for each member, revisiting old photos on Instagram, and revealing guest spots on their new album. The band’s drummer Russel Hobbs also said in an interview that “what is coming will come, whether you expect it or not.” Whatever that means.
