Grizzly Bear get surreal in their ‘Losing All Sense’ video

The clip stars Busy Philipps of ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and Aunt Freckle.

Since the release of their recent album ‘Painted Ruins’, Grizzly Bear have been busy on the road, and in the last few weeks they’ve made appearances on American shows such as Kimmel and Colbert.

Now they’ve got a video for another one of its (many) highlights, ‘Losing All Sense’, one of the tunes they played on Kimmel earlier in the week. Directed by Cody Critcheloe, it stars Busy Philipps (of ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and ‘Freaks & Geeks’ fame) as well as Aunt Freckle.

So what actually happens then? Well, Philipps appears to be a part of some kind of staged reality TV show, and turns up to a restaurant to film a dinner going catastrophically wrong. In-between all of this though, she begins having visions of Aunt Freckle as a lounge singer in the room. From there, it gets a bit weird. It’s never completely clear whether anything that happens is actually happening or if it’s in Busy’s head, but that’s probably the point.

A little before the release of ‘Painted Ruins’, we caught up with Grizzly Bear to talk to them about the story behind the new album. Catch up with the chat here.
