Hear Jon Hopkins debut new Jamie xx and Empress Of tracks on Radio 1
Hopkins’ latest Radio 1 Residency was co-hosted with East India Youth.
Aired last night on Radio 1, Jon Hopkins took to the latest in a series of Residency shows for the station.
This time the Domino-signed producer was joined by East India Youth, who’s set to support Hopkins on his upcoming Brixton Academy show (24th April).
Both artists played a selection of tracks from Caribou, Clark and Brian Eno. They also debuted brand new tracks from Empress Of and Jamie xx.
Hopkins closed his Residency with a two-minute long Jamie xx track titled ‘Alba’.
He also played Empress Of’s ‘To Get By’, a previously unheard track from the Brooklyn artist. East India Youth says it’s from her new record (“all out pop bangers,” apparently), out this April.
Listen in full to the Residency here. Empress Of’s new track starts 24 minutes in, Jamie xx’s from the 58 minute mark.
Jon Hopkins plays Latitude Festival (16th-19th July), where DIY is an official media partner. Tickets are on sale now. Visit diymag.com/presents for more information.
