Hinds perform acoustic version of 'Davey Crockett' at Benicàssim

While they were at Spain’s Benicàssim festival last weekend, Hinds played their Thee Headcoats cover, ‘Davey Crockett’ in session. Armed with nearby tinnies, and bassist Ade Martin on standby with a fan for percussive purposes , it’s a rowdy, raucous acoustic version.

Screams of “gabba gabba hey,” and croaky calls to find out what’s in Davey Crockett’s locket only amps up the brilliantly shambolic centre of the song. Hinds have more or less made carefree, barely-sellotaped-together garage chaos their forte. Delivered with smirking gusto, its an unfussy, beers-aloft session.

In other fka Deers news, last week Hinds shared a new song, ‘Chili Town’. It’s their first ever “winner song,” apparently, with suitably triumphant lyrics. They’re also nearing the end of a packed summer tour schedule, which included a set on Glastonbury’s John Peel stage, and a support slot at The Strokes’ leg of British Summer Time in Hyde Park.
