“Yesterday we were lying on our beds like, ‘this is not the biggest thing we’ve done, right?’,” Hinds’ guitarist Ana Perrote tells DIY, following the band’s early afternoon set at Glastonbury today (Friday 26th June). “But it is! We were trying to relax and see if there was any way we could say it wasn’t the biggest thing ever, but I think it’s going to be the biggest thing until… I don’t know when.”

“I was actually relieved [at having an early slot],” bassist Ade Martin adds, “thinking ok maybe there won’t be that many people. All the videos I saw of like, Fat White Family and Wolf Alice last year at this stage at kind of the same hour, it was really really packed. So I expected this, but thinking about less people made me feel way better.”

“I remember before going on stage,” she continues, “we were like, ‘there’s not so many people, ok ok good.’ And we went on stage, and half of the crowd was on the right so we couldn’t see them - suddenly it was like, ‘holy shit!’”

The quartet are planning to make the most of their time onsite, with a long list of names they’re planning to check out. “We want to see the Districts,” they explain. “I would love to see Glass Animals, and Wolf Alice, FKA twigs… Swim Deep tomorrow, Kanye West…”

They’re also very excited about the rumour that The Libertines are going to perform in Florence’s original slot later, now that she’s been promoted to headliner in place of the Foo Fighters. “Is that a secret show? Fuck! We’re kind of friends with Carl Barat, we’ve met him so many times.”

And possibly more so that One Direction are hanging around. “I DJed for [One Direction] once,” says Ade, “in Madrid at a hotel, private party. The main guy, what’s his name? Harry. He’s the nicest guy ever. I thought he’d be a dick. I was DJing with his friend, and he started DJing with us. He’s the nicest guy, I didn’t expect that at all.”
