Iceage to play “a couple of shiny brand new songs” at Sound City

The band will visit Sound City for the first time this weekend.

This weekend, DIY will head to Liverpool to host the Baltic Stage at Sound City, headlined by Fucked Up, Swans and Peace and also featuring Clarence Clarity, Honeyblood, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Slaves, Bad Breeding, Single Mothers, Palace and Yak.

Danish punks Iceage will play too, visiting the festival for the first time. “I think we will play at least a couple of shiny brand new songs,” says drummer Dan Kjær Nielsen of their set. The band released their third album, ‘Plowing Into the Field of Love’, at the end of last year. “I often enjoy playing the newest songs,” he continues.

As far as his ideal festival conditions go, he isn’t that fussy. “Night time with good sound on a stage not too large” is his ideal. “That is quite rare” though, Dan explains. And is there anyone playing he’d particularly like to see? “I’ll try to catch Swans,” he says.

The Vaccines will headline the event on the Friday, followed by The Flaming Lips on Saturday and Belle & Sebastian on Sunday. Other bands playing include Everything Everything, Spector, Gaz Coombes, The Cribs, Dutch Uncles and Aquilo.
