Jamie T covers Van Zandt’s country banger ‘Waiting Round To Die’
Dropping by Zane Lowe’s show last night, Jamie T gave one of his favourite country songs the cover treatment.
Out in force with his first new album since 2009’s ‘Kings and Queens’, Jamie T is a busy man these days, what with all his secret Reading sets and Jools performances. He did find time to drop in for a chat with Zane ‘Hottest Record In The World, Right Now’ Lowe last night, though. Besides talking in depth about the new album, ‘Carry On The Grudge’ Jamie T also gave one of his favourite country bangers the Jamie T-reatment, playing a cover of Townes Van Zandt’s classic ‘Waitin’ Round To Die.’
“Some people will call me a heathen for covering it,” said Jamie T, chatting to Zane on his Wednesday night show, “but I enjoy the song and if opens people up to Townes Van Zandt, all the better.”
