Jamie xx confirms he’s nearly recorded his debut album
First full-length is around the corner, bringing together three years of work, according to the producer.
Following this year’s ‘Girl’ and ‘All Under One Roof Raving’ tracks, Jamie xx has confirmed that a debut solo album is on its way.
In an interview with the FADER, he explained that he was in the final, mixing stages when it came to an LP.
Currently working in New York, the debut is set to bring together three years’ worth of material. “There’s one track where I need to get the vocal on, but I don’t know who the vocalist is going to be yet,” he said to Ruth Saxelby. “I never really listen to lyrics, but I can understand [them] a little bit more when it’s spoken word rather than singing.”
It’s not confirmed whether previous singles ‘Far Nearer’ or ‘Sleep Sound’ will appear on the record.
The xx themselves are busy at work on their third album. Sessions have taken place in Mexico, Iceland and their native London. “It feels a lot more free than when we were making the last record,” he said in the same interview.
