JJ preview new album with ‘Dean & Me’
Drunk and staggering song partly covers Lesley Gore’s ‘It’s My Party’.
Swedish duo JJ are streaming a chloroform-doused new track from their forthcoming new album ‘V’.
The follow-up to 2011’s ‘Kills’ is out 18th August via Secretly Canadian / Sincerely Yours. It’s been led with ‘All White Everything’, plus a title-honouring video directed by Olivia Kastebring.
‘Dean & Me’ quotes Lesley Gore’s ‘It’s My Party’ before steering its way into oddly orchestral, alt-pop territory. It’s a shiny, impassioned, curveball-throwing addition to the pair’s queasy catalogue.
About their new record, JJ released this statement back in June:
“‘At last we meet again
and I’m like baby, what you doing here?
You stay on my mind.
We been up all winters for someone like you and we know that you been up all winters for someone like us.
We don’t even know your name or where you came from
and someday this war will be over so we and our friends will stay together until the end.
Making our way through this motherfucking life.
Come on, we have to do it.’”
