John Grant shares new song ‘Disappointing,’ featuring Tracey Thorn

A stream-of-conciousness funk outpouring about Earl Grey tea and trombones, ‘Disappointing’ is anything but.

John Grant has shared a new song, ‘Disappointing’. Fortunately, it’s anything but, and it features Everything But The Girl’s Tracey Thorn.

A stream-of-consciousness funk outpouring about Earl Grey tea, trombones, and all manner of other things, ‘Disappointing’ arrives ahead of John Grant’s forthcoming new record ‘Grey Tickles, Black Pressure’. The album is produced by John Congleton (St Vincent, Swans, Modest Mouse) and comes out on 2nd October via Bella Union.

Speaking about the off-kilter love song, John Grant said “‘Disappointing’ is pretty straightforward. I list a bunch of my favorite
things in the world, like Earl Grey Malts from Paris on the Platte café in Denver, which, unfortunately, just shut its doors after 28 years. We used to go there in the 80s to get those malts which I’ve never had anywhere else. Guess I’ll have to make my own now. Anyway, the song is about how everything in the world is disappointing compared to seeing a smile spread across the face of the one you love.”
