Julian Casablancas + The Voidz stream ‘Tyranny’ debut in full, announce UK/European tour
Listen exclusively to this barmy, batshit first work and see dates for the band’s December tour.
The clues were laid out already - in ‘Human Sadness‘’ ten-minute blitz through the ages, ‘Where No Eagles Fly’’s skittering storm - but it’s no surprise to learn that Julian Casablancas + The Voidz’s debut album is borderline insane. It’s streaming exclusively on DIY for UK listeners.
‘Tyranny’ doesn’t hold back for one second. Its title - according to Strokes frontman Casablancas - refers to exploitation of all forms, “whatever makes profit while ignoring and repressing the truth about whatever suffering it may cause (like pop music, for that matter)”, and bold statements such as this line the seams of their first work. Musically, it manifests itself into a more-than curious slant on rock ’n roll, like the very fabric of the past few decades has been extracted and sent through some warped device that projects a crazy vision of the future.
DIY’s delighted to be bringing you the UK exclusive stream of the record. It’s out 13th October on Cult Records.
Alongside ‘Tyranny’’s UK stream, Casablancas and co. have announced dates for their first ever UK & European tour.
Tickets are available from Friday 10th October at 9am.
