Justin Young from The Vaccines has swapped his guitar for a drum kit

The frontman’s now retreated to the back of the stage, apparently. They’ve also got 50 new songs on the back-burner. Blimey.

The art of the singing drummer might begin and end with Spring King at the moment, but it looks like Justin from The Vaccines is gunning for Tarek Musa’s throne.

Chatting to NME ahead of their upcoming UK tour, the frontman confessed that he “was inspired by watching Phil Collins” to put down the strings and take up the sticks. “I don’t wanna say much more at this point because I don’t know whether it’s going to work,” he also admitted, but it seems like things are going alright - last week they apparently wrote 50 new songs, “hand on heart.” Crikey.

The Vaccines are heading out on tour next month - full dates for that are below, along with the video for latest single ‘Give Me A Sign’.
